6 Weeks to go until Future Focus
Six weeks and counting until we kick off the Future Focus event here in Cambridge.
In this video, Kathy Ridgway talks us through work she will be presenting on automated vacuum Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME).
SPME is a well established technique for the extraction of organic compounds from a wide variety of matrices. It is especially useful in the food, flavour and beverage industries as well as environmental monitoring.
By applying a vacuum, analysts in the food industry can achieve better results at much lower temperatures, avoiding complications caused by chemicals produced in the Maillard reaction.
This innovative project was made possible by our close collaboration with fellow Future Focus contributor – Prof. Elia Psillakis at the University of Crete.
