As senior application chemist, I take care of automated method development for Water & Environmental applications. However, I also work across a range of other industries. As well as this, on-going customer support forms a big part of the role in terms of method development support, training, and responding to technical queries.

What websites or digital tools do you use most in your day-to-day job role?

NIST library and the NIST web-book. They’re great resources and really useful tools which provide information on individual chemical compounds to help inform my method development process.

What is your favourite feature of them?

Instant knowledge at the touch of a button. The convenience and accuracy really helps me to be as efficient as possible.

Outside of your work, what piece of technology you could never do without?

To be honest, I’m not hugely driven by technology or gadgets, however even I think WiFi is super useful and would be pretty hard to live without!

Kathy Ridgway, Senior Application Chemist

What are your principal responsibilities at Anatune?

I’m a Senior Applications Chemist so I’m responsible for a variety of things. Running projects in the lab and providing customer training and support following installations takes up most of my time. In addition to this, I work closely with our Commercial and Support Teams to ensure customer satisfaction at all times.

Due to my previous roles, today I mostly deal with applications relating to FMCG. In particular, flavour and fragrance which is an area i really enjoy.

What websites or digital tools do you use most in your day-to-day job role?

Gerstel and Agilent Resources provide vital information to help with instrument configuration and use. I also use the GoodScents website to check odours of compounds when working on flavour and fragrance applications.

What is your favourite feature of these digital resources?

The exceptional Search functionality offers fast access to exactly what I need. This definitely helps with efficiency.

Outside of your work, what piece of technology you could never do without?

I could quite easily cope without most technology in my personal life. However, my phone is what I use most.
