Cannabinoid Automation

A recent article published in Journal of Analytical & Bioanalytical Chemistry (DOI 10.1007/s00216-016-9537-5) details the automation of a liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) method for analysis of cannabinoids in blood serum as developed by our colleagues in GERSTEL.

Having worked in forensic toxicology I am aware the analysis of cannabinoids in forensic toxicology can often be challenging, with low limits of detection required. Limits of detection and quantification in this fully automated method were 0.3 and 0.6 μg/L (THC), 0.1 and 0.8 μg/L (11-OH-THC), and 0.3 and 1.1 μg/L (THC-COOH).

This article demonstrates how the workload for laboratory staff can be decreased with full automation using the CF200 Centrifuge, quickMix (vortex mixer), mVap (evaporation unit), cooled tray and Solvent Filling Station options on the GERSTEL MPS rail.
