Focus 2013 – A Great Success!!

Focus* 2013 was a great success with over a hundred people expressing interest in our Pay-Per-Sample LC-MS/MS offering, and we would like very much to thank Agilent Technologies for allowing us to be guests on their stand.

Helen Loveridge, Trainee BMS at Hereford County Hospital, won the iPad Mini competition.
Congratulations Helen!!

A lot of people were talking to us about pent-up demand for Mass Spectrometry, with the major constraints appearing to be capital budgets and the need to train staff to run the MS.

Many visitors told us that business cases for either implementing or upgrading Tandem Mass Spectrometers are waiting for approval, while money for investment in capital equipment is held up.  For them, we have been suggesting that if Reagent Rental contracts can go forward, then our Pay-Per-Sample solution may allow LC-MS/MS to be implemented.

Also, some delegates expressed concern that traditionally MS has been hungry for staff time, with labour intensive sample preparation.  They were interested in that our systems come with automated pre-analytics, including online robotic protein crash, allowing walkaway operation.

We really enjoyed the venue at York University, as the conference centre allowed lots of opportunities to chat with people and share ideas in-between sessions.  Well done to the organisers, who did a very good job.

*Focus is the annual conference and exhibition of the Association of Clinical Biochemistry (ACB).
