Seminar: The Analysis of Biomarkers in Breath and Body Fluids by SIFT-MS
Posted on July 21st, 2016
The composition of human breath varies depending primarily upon physiological and pathophysiological state, diet, exercise and environmental factors.
A great deal of useful information can be gathered from the qualitative and quantitative analysis of trace amounts of volatile metabolites in human breath.
Selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) is ideally suited to trace gas analysis of air and breath and thus can be a support to clinical diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring.
SIFT-MS instrumentation is maturing rapidly, becoming more robust and easier to use; while offering better analytical performance than ever before. The commercial availability of auto sampling for both gas phase and liquid headspace samples opens up the technique to biomarker studies in other fluids such as urine.
We are pleased to announce a two-day seminar concerning this topic at Down Hall Country House Hotel, Hatfield Heath (near London Stansted airport), on Tuesday 18th & Wednesday 19th October 2016. If you are interested in this field of work, you may wish to put the date of this meeting into your diary.
This event is supported and organised by Anatune and Syft Technologies, and Professor David Smith FRS, of Keele University’s Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine (ISTM) and Professor Patrik Spanel of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences are compiling the scientific and technical program.
Please see a copy of the agenda here.
If you are a researcher using SIFT-MS for breath or urine and cell culture headspace analysis and would like to contribute a talk or a poster, a few places are still open in the program, so please contact David or Patrik now to let them know.
The cost of the meeting is £210+VAT and includes all meals, refreshments, 1 nights accommodation and all course material. Speakers attend for free.
If you would like to register now, or if you would like us to send you a copy of the technical program when it is settled, please call us on +44 (0) 1223 279210 or email: email@example.com.
