High Resolution Accurate Mass GC-MS for Food Contact Studies
Posted on December 9th, 2016

It is important that packaging doesn’t contaminate the food it contains.
Agilent have published an interesting video on YouTube that shows how the MultiFlex GC/Q-TOF is used for the analysis of food contact materials including non-intentionally added substances.
The video features Dr Malcolm Driffield of FERA who gives a nice explanation of how this excellent high resolution accurate mass instrument can be used for the analysis of unknown compounds on complex food matrices.
FERA are one of a number of labs in the UK using a MultiFlex GC/Q-TOF for food contact work.
Like FERA, if you have an instrument as powerful as the GC/Q-TOF, it will always be used for a range of different tasks, together with different (and often complex) sample preparation protocols.
With the MultiFlex GC/Q-TOF, not only can we automate these protocols for you, but we can also make it quick and easy to switch between them (as Camilla Liscio explains here).
The MultiFlex GC/Q-TOF combines the analytical power of the Agilent 7200 GC/Q-TOF with the great flexibility in automated sample prep and can offer unique, non-selective sample extraction technologies like ATEX – particularly useful when analysing unknown compounds.
We have a MultiFlex GC/Q-TOF in our Cambridge applications laboratory, so if you want to have a closer look and see how we can improve the efficiency of your work, please call us on +44 (0)1223 279210, or email: enquiries@anatune.co.uk.
