In this SnApp Note both SIFT-MS and GC-MS were evaluated for the analysis of a solvent and its metabolite in blood plasma samples and the measured concentration by each technique were compared. Calibration standards of the target compounds were prepared then both were incubated. Plasma samples were supplied in headspace vials and the headspace was then injected into the GC or SIFT. The measured concentration in samples by each technique gave a near 1:1 relationship, showing the accuracy of the methods. It’s further proof that SIFT-MS can stand up to many routine analyses traditionally done using GC-MS.
